Healthy Choices for a Busy School Day
Good food supports children's health, wellbeing, concentration and readiness to learn. At Rookery, we want lunchtime to be a positive part of the school day, with nutritious choices that help children develop healthy eating habits and enjoy eating alongside their friends.
We recognise that children may have allergies, medical diets, cultural requirements or other dietary needs. Families can speak to the school about individual requirements so that appropriate arrangements can be discussed and children can enjoy lunchtime safely and confidently.
School Lunches
Rookery provides nutritious school meals with a variety of choices for pupils throughout the week. Families can find our current menu and information about meal arrangements below, including how to tell us about allergies, medical diets and other dietary requirements.
Free School Meals
Some children may be entitled to free school meals and additional support. We encourage families who may be eligible to check their entitlement and apply, as registration can also help the school access additional funding to support eligible pupils.
Infant Free Meals
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal under the Universal Infant Free School Meals programme. Families may still be encouraged to complete an eligibility check where this could provide additional funding to support their child and the school.
Packed Lunches
Where children bring a packed lunch to school, we encourage families to provide a healthy and balanced selection of food and drinks. Please also follow any school guidance relating to allergies or particular foods so that lunchtime remains safe and enjoyable for everyone.
