The Primary PE and Sport Premium supports Rookery in developing high-quality, sustainable opportunities for pupils to be active, participate in sport and develop positive attitudes towards physical activity.

Physical education, sport and physical activity are an important part of life at Rookery. We want children to develop physical confidence, experience a broad range of activities and understand the importance of being active as part of a healthy lifestyle.
The Primary PE and Sport Premium provides additional funding to help us strengthen our PE and sport provision. Funding is planned according to the needs of our pupils and used to create improvements that can have a positive and sustainable impact on participation, opportunity and attainment.
We consider how investment can strengthen teaching, develop staff confidence and expertise, broaden opportunities and encourage pupils of different abilities and backgrounds to participate in physical activity and sport.
How We Use the Funding
Each year, Rookery publishes information explaining the amount of PE and Sport Premium received, how the funding is used and the impact it has on pupils' participation and attainment.
We carefully consider how improvements can be sustained, ensuring that investment strengthens the quality of PE, sport and physical activity and creates lasting opportunities for pupils to develop confidence, skills and positive attitudes towards being active.
Swimming and Water Safety
Swimming and water safety are important parts of the primary national curriculum. As part of our annual PE and Sport Premium reporting, we publish information about the proportion of Year 6 pupils who can swim competently for at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue.
This helps us monitor pupils' achievement and identify where further opportunities or support may be needed to develop essential swimming and water-safety skills.
