Year 1

At Rookery in year 1, the curriculum is  broad and balanced as we believe the rich and meaningful experiences we offer, are the best way to prepare pupils for the challenges of transition from Early Years to Key Stage One.

Some of the amazing opportunities available to pupils in year 1 include completing outdoor and teamwork activities at our recently renovated shared outdoor learning centre, ‘The Brighouse’ in Atherstone

A wide range of visits throughout the year engage pupils in learning through first-hand and practical experiences, widen their knowledge of the local area and local communities, and keep that curiosity and thirst for learning going. Some visits include local places of worship, Avoncroft Museum and Hatton Country Park

Throughout the year pupils have the opportunity to work with a team of specialist teachers. Parents play a large part in the children’s learning with a variety of workshops and events. The most popular workshop is the Elf Workshop where parents come in to school to work with the children to make elf hats. The children are very excited when Mr Penguin comes to visit too!
