At Rookery we have 460 children from the ages of 3-11.
They are taught across two buildings in three phases each led by a Phase Leader.

In order to create more of a family feel in such a large school; we have mixed the age groups up within and across the two buildings.

Consequently the older children have the opportunity to take greater pastoral responsibility through a 'buddying' system that enables the younger children to feel more supported as they move through the school.

This is a development of the peer mediation system that we introduced previously.
All pupils in year 1 have a buddy in year 5 and likewise in year 2 and year 6.

Y3 children organise lunchtime activities for the nursery children and year 4 children have been trained as Arts Mentors to support events within the school.

Feedback from pupils and parents has so far been very positive.
