Modern Foreign Languages are taught in two ways at Rookery; tasters and short courses provided through Friday afternoon clubs for Key Stage 2 and weekly French teaching for Key Stages 1 and 2.

French is taught by our specialist language teacher, Miss Nedelec. Learning in French is linked to cross curricular projects where possible. Younger learners are engaged through games and song while older learners are encouraged to apply their learning in presentations or individual projects and using the Internet with sites like Linguascope.com

Children are assessed using the internationally recognised languages ladder which gives a rounded picture of all aspects of language competency.
